I'm Engaged: The Down-Low For All to Know!

Hey Everyone!

So guess what???? I'm engaged!!! (If you didn't know from all those millions of posts and pictures on Facebook, you know now!) As a woman, I knew this question was bound to happen... "How did he do it????" So here is the story!

For those of us who know us fairly well, you may have heard about our thing for fours. We started dating August 4, 2012. JD's birthday is December 4th. My birthday is June 4th. I was wondering yesterday whether or not he might propose. In my mind I was thinking, "Well, today would be the perfect day since it's the fourth of November (our one year and three month anniversary), and I haven't heard anything about our engagement in several weeks...." We had already been talking about it and marriage fairly seriously, so getting engaged wasn't a HUGE surprise. The whole day as I took care of my adorable little children, I kept wondering if I would walk next door and find JD all super dressed up with flowers in his hands and asking me to marry him.

Well, when I arrived him early (the family I work for knew everything!), I found JD dressed normally. I looked down at my clothes and thought I looked a little too "mom-ish" in jean capris and a big hoodie, so I decided to change even though I was now less sure of actually getting engaged. I told JD I wanted to go change and he said to go ahead and he'd go get his laundry out of the drier. Well, that wasn't the response I was hoping for....

Driving towards his apartment, we talked about plans for the night, and he was asking me what I wanted to eat... That wasn't what I was hoping for either... Then we stopped to get gas. By now I'm giving him a hard time about a ring (pointing to my finger) and hitting his shoulder. Little did I know that the ring was in his pocket!

As we neared his apartment, we got a call from Ms. Brenda (my roommate's mom) "out of the blue" about needing to go get hay... I thought this was odd since I didn't think we needed anymore hay, but she was asking JD to come help her get some hay because their truck had "broken down." I was now very confused. As we drove up to the apartment to put some stuff away, I saw my dad and my brothers driving by (going to El Charros to set up for the engagement party!), and thought that was very odd! JD then had me helping him put dishes away, look on mapquest for the intersection we would be near, help put away laundry, etc. Then as we left on the drive there, we both got more and more and more nervous! I know JD is nervous when he tries to start conversations.

We got to the barn, and Ms. Brenda was there to meet us. and told us Bob (the barn hand) had to go run an errand and that we could go on a "walk" up near the pond where Katherine was taking "landscape pictures." (She does some beautiful photography on the side.) I was really impressed with Ms. Brenda since she had been in the emergency room the night before with pneumonia! So we walked up towards the hill trying to make conversation, but JD could barely get any words out, none the less try to make conversation! (He's so cute when he's nervous!) We walked up the hill to the lake where I saw a bouquet of roses on the ground! We both kind of stood there awkwardly, and we both kind of laughed, and he hugged me.

He told me this was because he loved me. I think we joked a little about knowing what was coming.

He got down on one knee (aahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!) and said something along the lines of, "Keri Lynn Johnson, before the sight of God and man, will you marry me?" I, of course, said, "Yes!" I cut to the chase. Hahahahahahaha.... We were meant for each other!

Ahhhhh!!!!

"Are you going to put the ring on???"
 Yay! Happiness!

Suddenly I hear yelling from the barn and see "three surprises" as Katherine called them running towards us! Kathleen, Kylie, and my mom had watched the whole thing!

My mommy hug! All the feels!

JD asked me to marry him during my favorite part of the day in some of my favorite scenery! He's good!

I'm getting married!!!!

Recreating the moment a few minutes later! I love this boy with all my heart!

Apparently we're "So adorable!"

The roses he gave me!

Twilight! (Hence the name of my blog....)

The awesome ring he got me! Isn't it gorgeous??? I'm still getting used to seeing it on my finger!

After that, I got the surprise that my immediate family as well as friends all the way from Milledgeville for dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Ain't gonna lie, girls, I got a good one! He is a very godly and honorable young man, and I can't wait to start our life together!

Peace to you all,
Keri Lynn
