35 Weeks With Twins

 Hello Lovelies!

It is definitely the last month of pregnancy for me. I have gotten to the "I'M SO DONE" stage of pregnancy. Constipation, stomach cramps, Braxton Hicks, weird sleep, being tired just FROM SITTING down, weird mucus nose with bleeding because of weather, taking a lot of effort just to stand up from a sitting position... Oh yeah, also babies kicking my bladder and rib cage. I'm so glad they're doing well, and I will do whatever I need to do to bring them safely into this world. It's just tough. Oh, and now they're pushing on where I had my umbilical hernia they found while removing my gallbladder a little over a year ago, and that hurts man. haha.

The last measurement we had was on Monday, and baby boy weighed 4lbs 13oz and baby girl weighed 5lbs 11oz. *approximately* Apparently baby girl doesn't like to share. πŸ™ˆ Luckily, that's still within normal weight standards, so that's reassuring. Just from experiencing their movements and seeing how they interact in the womb, I have a feeling she will be my bossy one of the pair. Of course, baby boy is closest to the cervix, so he'll probably be first out. It will be a very interesting dynamic for sure!

I also went to my normal OBGYN on Thursday, and actually got a few pics this time. Ironically, it's harder to get pictures of their cute little profiles as they get bigger. I remember when they both used to fit on the same screen together! I was looking at my app ahead of time, and it was like "Welcome to week 35! The week most twins are born!" Whoops... I still have a week of work left... Hopefully babies will continue to stay put. Here's a picture of what it might look like in there. Of course, my babies are more side by side, so it's not entirely accurate.

The ultrasound tech on Thursday said they still look really close in size, so I'm not too worried about the big weight difference. It's approximate anyway. She also showed me a video of her twin grandbabies laughing while eating in their highchairs with their mom. Be still my heart! I have found twins really start all kind of conversations! When I walked into the building where my specialist and regular OBGYN are, one lady called out from a seat in the lobby "Wow, girl, what are you doing, carrying twins??" I had to laugh a little. "Well, yes, actually." Honestly, I'm not offended. People are curious, and they just want to know what it's like, and I can't fault them for it. Some could be more polite about it, but honestly, humanity will not always be subtle or understanding. That's okay! It takes time to learn, and if those who love me can be patient with my faults, I can be patient with strangers as well! πŸ’— I talked to another mama in the waiting room, and she was so excited for me, and it was really touching! She was like, "Girl, it looks like you're carrying the world! Your belly is so cute!" My mom also made a good point, "Well, you are carrying the world. You're carrying the future generation." What a sobering and beautiful thought!

Lots of the sweet ladies at the OBGYN are like "You're rocking this girl! Look at that adorable belly!" I have found my belly has been the topic of many, many conversations. I mean, it is something else! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Looking in is even more interesting! Look at these sweet babies! Last ultrasound, baby boy was still breech (head up), but now baby girl was hanging out sideways (called transverse). It was a little difficult to get her picture because she was at such an odd angle, but you can see it if you look closely.

Baby boy was fine with pics. He had been pretty active earlier that day, but he was pretty chill at 135 heartbeat by the time of the ultrasound.

Baby girl, like I mentioned, was hanging out somewhat sideways making my belly also super wide. haha. Watching them move around from the outside can be truly bizarre. Sometimes you'll feel a hand, an elbow, a leg, a butt, a head... Hopefully they'll move back down and then stay there.

I am so OVERWHELMED with the giving of those around me! Like seriously guys, the giving has been over and beyond! For example, my sweet CC homeschool group threw a surprise shower for us the other week! Their giving hearts were so touching, I almost cried!

I also had a virtual party where I had several friends come and be supportive! All the adorable gifts and twin themed things! (Which are NOT easy to find, by the way. Twins are kind of uncommon, but they're not THAT uncommon.) Several couldn't attend, but don't think I did not see your gift or did not see your support! All the beautiful comments, encouragement, and support has not gone unnoticed, I promise you that! Super thankful for my talented sister Kathleen who set up games for the virtual shower and for my mom and sister Kylie who supported with food, gifts, and babysitting! I have a plan for thank you cards, but it won't be doable till after the babies are born. So if you don't get a thank you soon, that's why!

Seems like everyone LOVES a good twin story! These two are already so loved! As I mentioned on Facebook, I was talking to Charlie's mom (one of my student's for VIPKID), and she told me that a boy/girl twin pair in China is considered a huge blessing! They're called a Phoenix and Dragon pair! I LOVE it! I really am blessed, and I have received way more than I could ever deserve. From my double rainbow babies to the love and support of my family and tribe! God has shown me way more grace than I could ever deserve!

Okay, this is turning into a REALLY long blogpost. Sorry guys! I still got a little more! Going to share some nursery updates! We're pretty much done! FINALLY. We also celebrated my sweet Joshua's fourth birthday party with the fam! He is super opinionated right now, and he will tell you all sorts of stories about the BAD GUYS! He loves Blippi and he loves playing with his sister! His favorite episode of the Mandalorian is between the Crate Dragon episode and the freaky spider episode. He loves construction vehicles and reading facts books about them and dinosaurs!

Last update is the nursery is just about DONE. Here is a virtual tour of our sweet babies room! I have blocked their names since we have not announced them officially yet. What do y'all think? Did it turn out well? I'm pretty happy with it! They'll probably both be in baby boy's bed for a little while since it's the only crib we can lift up to a higher position. Also, we need to get the diaper pale out of the garage. haha.

Baby girl's side. (And Joshua wanting to be a part of the tour. haha)

The middle of the room! I've upgraded to an arm chair because I tend to fall asleep on them... And our awesome rocking char did not treat my neck well. (haha)

Here's baby boy's side! You can guess his name with his initials. πŸ˜‰ This was Aayla's crib that turns into a toddler bed. (Thank you, Grandma!) And I just kept the Winnie the Pooh decorations from Joshua's birth and just changed a letter in the initials.

Last little bit with the organizer boxes I'm pretty happy with! We reused some shelves that were here at the house that the old owners didn't take. We got the dresser from someone as well.

And last but not lest, the whole thing, or as much as I could get in one picture. I still have a little work to do, but for the most part, it's done! We do need to put up the awesome monitors we got from a friend that has two cameras! If you noticed, all those diapers and wipes have been gifts, and there's MORE in the closet! Y'all, I'm so touched. The idea of buying all those diapers on our own was very daunting. They aren't cheap. I'm also trying to breastfeed for two reasons. 1) You can pass on some good nutrients and immunities on to your child. 2.) FORMULA IS EXPENSIVE. We shall see how this goes, but we are about ready as we will ever be for our double rainbow babies!

Okay, so one last story. I was picking up Taco Bell on the way back to pick up Aayla and Joshua after my appointment on Wednesday. I usually order a few bean burritos and a large water. However, as I was looking, I saw those nacho fries, (Which normally I refuse, because who gets POTATOES when you're ordering Mexican food?), and I literally said, "You know what, I give in, I'll get the nacho fries." When I got to the window, one lady popped her head out and said "Girl, you've never tried the nacho fries?? Oh, you're about to be here every day then!" I was like, "Don't tell me that! I'm prego!" Which made the other girl working the register light up. "Hey, I am too! And she's right, I get those nacho fries a lot myself." This started a short conversation on our different pregnancies, and it made me smile. I really love these short conversations I have with strangers. It makes the world feel a little smaller, and it gives me some hope for humanity. And to be fair, those nacho fries were GOOD. LOL

Okay, I am done! Bam! Wrote it all in one day too! Phew... This will probably be my last blog update before the babies are born! Can't wait to share ALL the pics when they are here! You know I love me some pictures! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Peace to you all!

Beautiful pictures and post, Keri Lynn!
What a darling nursery. Great job!
So much excitement just ahead.

I'm so glad you've been showered well with love and gifts. Please do NOT write me a thank you card. You will have your hands so very full loving those new babies and trying to keep up with the older kids, and that's how it should be.

Much love to you and JD as the countdown begins!
