Since she has hit the big 5-0, I wanted to do something special for my mom (other than surprise her with a not so surprise birthday party... lol). I know this will mean a lot to her, so here we go!
50 Lessons My Mom Has Taught Me
*Note: not listed in order of significance except for #1
1. Jesus loves me more than I will ever know.
2. Don't judge a book by its cover and don't judge a situation just by what you see.
3. Playing music while doing chores makes it so much more enjoyable.
4. The entire Bible has something to learn from and highlighting key words helps!
5. Be kind to your siblings and share.
6. Books are wonderful and great for adventures!
7. She taught me to write and use proper grammar (and she will still let me know even as a grown adult when I use improper grammar...)
8. Encouragement is always better than condemnation when it comes to friends and family.
9. She taught me the benefit of a daily quiet time through example.
10. Special needs does NOT equal less significance. In fact, they can teach you more than you can teach them.
11. Hope is never lost.
12. Pictures are AWESOME!
13. If you feel like you can't finish everything, take a nap and then keep going!
14. Help those around you without expecting anything in return.
15. Family is important.
16. Speak the truth in love.
17. Talking to your daughter on a daily basis really helps through those tough teenage years.
18. Discipline in love is really important.
19. The though things can be joyful eventually if you just change your attitude.
20. It's okay to be different. God made each of us unique and in His image. *The does not include sinful behavior though*
21. Jesus died for me and wants me to repent of the sins damaging my life. (My dad did this too of course!!)
22. You can come up with fun cleaning games for kids.
23. Christmas gifts are nice, but having your family closer is better.
24. Work hard for your family.
25. Don't jump to conclusions till you've talked to the person.
26. Having a completely open mind might make your brain fall out. ;) *meaning not everything is worth knowing
27. We have freedom to walk away from sin and be a stronger person because of Jesus.
28. The names of God are fantastic to study!
29. Children are a blessing.
30. God has given us so much to learn! It's a blessing to learn!
31. She has taught me how to cook some of my favorite dishes!
32. Facebook is the bomb! (had to throw this one in there! lol)
33. Having a girls night every once in awhile is needed.
34. What matters most is your beauty on the inside. The outside is ALWAYS secondary.
35. Reading before bed helps you go to sleep easier.
36. Tums are lifesavers.
37. Water can cure almost any stomach ailment.
38. And Tylenol helps with everything else. ;)
39. There are seasons in life. Remember every season is not permanent.
40. Patience wins out in the long run!
41. Apologize when you're wrong.
42. If you are stressed, give it to God.
43. If you are angry or upset, give it to God.
44. If you are anxious or worried, give it to God.
45. 30 Minute Clean Up as a family can just about clean the whole house.
46. Laughing at my own jokes makes it even funnier.
47. After prayer talk is the funniest thing ever!
48. Pray as an individual, pray as a family, and pray with your friends if you can. Prayer changes things. *contrary to popular belief*
49. Do not be afraid of the evil in this world. Our God is so much more powerful, and He will win in the end.
50. Being a mom is AWESOME!!!
