Hello Everyone!
Wow, I'm not sure where to begin. Let's just say this trip has had a huge impact on my life. The people there just blow my mind, and I miss them already even though I've only been gone about a week. I miss my "family," my friends, the food, the culture, etc... And Japanese food doesn't give you heartburn by the way. I watched "The Last Samurai" with my dad yesterday, and everything that was said about the Japanese or even hearing the Japanese language reminded me of memories from my trip. God is using this church in great ways, and I can't wait to see what else He will do with them in the future.
The last day of school, I presented them with a giant card I had made to give them some idea of what they mean to me. It's not a lot, but I was glad I could give them something. However, I was an emotional wreck and started crying in front of everyone! The teachers, the students, and the volunteers all mean a lot to me, and to know I was leaving soon made it difficult to say good bye. And that wasn't even the final farewell! I would see many of them after that day too since I still had about a week and a half left to go.
During that last week and a half, I went on a vacation with the Nohara family to Hokkaido. That was fun. We went camping, stayed with a homeschool family, and visited many famous sites. They were all really sweet to me, and it was nice to see God's creation in the north part of Japan. Japan is so gorgeous, and the temperature was really nice compared to the hot humidity of Yokohama. We were witnesses along the way as well as we met people who didn't come across too many Christians. I also met a homeschool girl there and had a good conversation with her about life in general and the difficulties with dating and such. All in all, I think it was a good trip. If you're my friend on Facebook, you can check out all the pictures!
A piece of my heart is now in Japan, and I wonder what God has in store for me there. Am I to return? Or does God have different plans? I don't want to mess with them, but I would really, really like to go back and do even more. These people sharpen and inspire me, and I like being in an environment where people are truly living for God. Please pray for this church since they are having a financial crisis at the moment. I don't know if I can specify about what, but they really do need your prayers. I hope to write more later. I think the jet lag is getting to me. Haha.
Peace to you all!
